Dubarry’s DryFast-DrySoft™ leather is designed to wet and dry without damaging the leather, which means that mud and other substances can be hosed off after use. We recommend that you read our care pages to ensure you get the best performance and longest life out of your boots.

The waterproof, breathable GORE-TEX membrane is typically sewn into the cuff at the top of our Country Boots, so they are waterproof to that stitching line at the top of the shaft. For pull-on ankle boots with side-gussets, the liner typically extends to half the height of the gusset. For laced styles, the liner and a tongue gusset typically extend to the 4th eyelet (please check individual style descriptions for confirmation). For tall Country Boots with zippers, an internal waterproof gusset usually extends to at least 2/3rds of the height of the zipper.

Yes they are! Any of our GORE-TEX lined boots with a zipper have a built-in gusset on the inside that extends at least two thirds of the way up the zipper and prevents water from seeping through the zipper and into the boot.

The combination of our DryFast-DrySoft™ leather and waterproof GORE-TEX lining make Dubarry Country Boots ideal for use in snowy and slushy conditions. Our sole units offer great traction and the leather is designed so that salt accumulations from ice-melt can be rinsed out and will not permenantly mark the leather. Additionally we line some Country Boot styles with an extra thermal technical fur layer for extereme cold conditions.

Both Country Boots and wellies are designed to protect against wet elements. Dubarry Country boots are designed with warmth, dryness and breathability in mind, whereas unlined rubber boots protect against wet conditions and are often either too cold or too warm for the conditions. In addition, Dubarry Country Boots are far more versatile in terms of style, both practical and presentable in a wide range of environments.

Dubarry country boots are very versatile. Great looking, but built to be practical, waterproof, and hard-wearing. This makes them a popular choice for a broad variety of uses including city winter boots, dog walking, yard work, and dealing with the toughest of envionments in the hunting field.

While we certainly hear from many customers who experience little to no break-in time, this is individual to each person and can depend on how much the boot needs to adjust to the shape of your foot. The following general advice will give you the best results for breaking in your new boots: We use thicker leather in our country boots than you would find in a general lifestyle or fashion boot. While this is more robust and longer lasting, it may require more break in time than footwear built for lesser performance. Initially, you may find that your heel lifts until the leather has broken over the toe enough for the boot to move with you as you walk. To prevent discomfort, we recommend that you plan to wear your boots for several shorter periods of time during the initial break-in period and avoid taking them on an all-day adventure for your first wear. We also recommend using good socks, or two thin pairs of socks to reduce any extra friction you may experience during this period. For most people, a cumulative use of around 2 to 3 hours walking should result in the boot breaking in enough to be comfortable for longer periods of wear.
