Women's Vests

While similar in function and style, the main difference between a vest and bodywarmers is the weight of the garment. Vests are usually more lightweight in design and can be used as a mid-layer, or worn though warmer seasons. Body warmers tend to be bulkier and are more often used as outer layers.

Vests are hugely versatile and appropriate at many times and places. Dubarry has a wide range of vests which are suitable anywhere from the shooting field to sofa, stable to greenhouse, work desk to the gym.

Depending on the design, there are many ways to style a woman’s vest. Sportier, quilted vests can be worn with sportswear or casual jeans. Knitted vests are a very popular style worn with jeans and Country boots or ankle boots, inside or outside throughout the year.

The word gilet [pronounced "ZHEE-lay"] derives from the Spanish 'Jileco' or 'Chaleco'-  a sleeveless jacket, much like a waistcoat or vest that forms part of traditional Spanish clothing. We typically refer to this as a 'vest' in the USA.
